Produced with Brian Eno and recorded at Hansa Studios in West Berlin — with the Wall still standing just metres away — the album carries a weight and atmosphere that feels entirely its own.
The title track is one of rock’s great moments: a soaring, defiant anthem built around Robert Fripp’s layered guitar and Bowie’s most commanding vocal performance. But the album is far more than one song — from the motorik pulse of V-2 Schneider to the ambient drift of Neuköln, it moves between energy and stillness with total confidence.
