Chaos A.D. is Sepultura’s fifth studio album and the record that announced them as a truly global force in heavy music. Released in 1993 and produced by Andy Wallace, it marked a decisive shift away from pure thrash metal towards a heavier, more groove-driven sound — slower, more deliberate and more politically charged than anything they’d done before.
Refuse/Resist, Territory and Slave New World hit with crushing force, while the album’s themes of social unrest, political violence and Brazilian identity gave it a weight that went beyond the music. Raw, angry and completely focused — one of the defining metal albums of the 1990s.
