SLIFT sharpen their approach on Fantasia, trading sprawling jams for a leaner, more direct set without losing their weight or intensity. Where earlier records stretched outward into longform exploration, these songs hit harder and move with purpose, shaped from the outset into tight, agile forms. Written collaboratively but with a clearer initial vision, the material took shape in the trios long-standing rehearsal space before being captured in Belgium at Daft Studios. The result is a punchy, cohesive record that still carries the bands breadth of influence – heavy psych, doom, free jazz and classic rock – now distilled into something more immediate. Mixed by Kurt Ballou, Fantasia balances force and detail, packing complexity into concise structures. Beneath the volume and drive sits a thematic core rooted in resistance and collective strength, with SLIFT channelling unrest into something direct, urgent and galvanising.
