The 17th studio album of the Swedish pioneers of symphonic metal! Therion have always challenged themselves when it comes to breaking new ground while still staying true to their musical roots. On their 17th album, mastermind Christofer Johnsson and bandmate Thomas Vikström have created something that would have been completely unthinkable for either of them before.
“We tackled the only thing we hadn’t tried out of all these possibilities,” explains Christofer. “We decided to give the fans what they’ve been asking for for so long. ‘Leviathan’ is the first album we’ve deliberately packed with Therion-type hits.”
The album is the first part in the planned ‘Leviathan’ trilogy, with its sequels ‘Leviathan II’ and ‘Leviathan III’ scheduled for release in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
