Description

Shattering conventions musical, social, political was the lifes work of Frank Zappa, the iconoclastic musical genius, rock legend and intellectual firebrand of the late 20th century whose work is equally revered by hardcore rockers and serious musical scholars. 1968s Were Only In It for the Money is the third studio album by Zappa And The Mothers Of Invention. As with the bands previous two outings, its a conceptual affair which satirizes politics, particularly the hippie subculture, as well as The Beatles Sgt. Pepper. It was conceived as part of a project called No Commercial Potential, which produced three other albums: Lumpy Gravy, Cruising with Ruben & the Jets and Uncle Meat. The 18-track outsider masterpiece encompasses rock, orchestral and experimental music with aplomb, and stands as one of Zappas greatest achievements. The album was ranked number 297 on Rolling Stone magazines list of the 500 greatest albums of all time in 2015.

This rare mono mix pressed on vinyl for the first time since 1968, this picture disc variant is exclusive to the UK & Europe and features unseen art from the vault. Mastered by Bernie Grundman.
