Description
1993s Transmissions From The Satellite Heart served as the Flaming Lips second release for Warner Bros.and first with guitarist Ronald Jones and drummer Steven Drozd. The bands transition from indie noisemakers to pop provocateurs was magnified tenfold here by the out of nowhere smash She Dont Use Jelly, which was not only their first charting radio hit but heavily rotated on MTV. No one trick pony, the ambitious 11-song set balances further pop fare like Turn It On and extended numbers like Moth In The Incubator and Slow Nerve Action, with an acoustic folk cut in Plastic Jesus, all with a post-modern style and grace.
