Cornerstone (1979) yielded a major hit single for Styx, which took them to the charts and into golden oldie stardom. Babe has become a radio evergreen and always has a spot on the yearly best song lists worldwide. The rest of the album is a great mix of late seventies Hard Rock mixed with ballads and melodic choruses. Since the early seventies Styx had grown from a Prog Rock band to writing bombastic Arena Rock anthems that worked well on the charts. Somewhere between a theatrical band and straight up Rock act, Styx never fails to entice listeners with interesting arrangements and quality interplay.
