A true genius of the cello, full of joy and life, Jacqueline du Pré passed away on October 19, 1987 at the age of only 42 after many years fighting multiple sclerosis. This standalone LP version which finds du Pré bringing characteristic exuberance, passion and color to Richard Strauss Don Quixote: Fantastic Variations on a Theme of Knightly Character for cello, viola & orchestra, Op. 35 with Sir Adrian Boult and the New Philharmonia Orchestra was culled from the five LP box set 5 Legendary Recordings which was released in November 2017 to mark the 30th anniversary of Jacquelines passing. It uses the 24-BIT/96kHz remastering made at Abbey Road in 2011 for the Japanese SACD version.
