Forma Music is a Dublin-based record label founded by DJs Keith Dalton and Glenn Davis, born from a lifelong passion for house music culture. Blending music and visual art, Forma layers sound, movement, colour and emotion to deliver deep, soulful, jazzy house music that honours the Chicago, New York and Detroit pioneers. The Forma EP is the label’s debut release — a suitably promising and genuinely accomplished three-tracker from Glenn Davis himself, previously known for his work on the effervescent Yore imprint. Davis hits the ground running on A-side ‘Let The Music’, wrapping sparkling synth stabs, warming pads, spacey electronics, looped vocals and heartfelt piano snippets around a rolling deep house groove. Subtly soulful and summery, it is a genuine dancefloor delight from first note to last. On the B-side, ‘Say You Will’ goes deeper and slightly slower, smothered in atmospheric spoken word samples and twinkling vibraphone motifs that give it an unmistakably jazz house character. Closing the EP, ‘333’ offers an enticing blend of dirty TB-303 bass, layered house percussion, jazzy drum fills and tactile stabs — a perfect showcase of Davis’ range across a single release.
