Description
At the peak of his career in 1951, Hank Williams recorded 143 songs for the Mothers Best Flour Company. Hank performed with his regular studio band and recorded his hits as well as songs he never recorded commercially anywhere else. This historic collection drawn from the very best of the Mothers Best recordings. Its a rare, informal glimpse into the heart and soul of country musics greatest star who passed away on New Years Day 1953, at age 29. These recordings give us a deeper insight into Hanks life and music, showing a personality that had never been revealed previously. In this casual setting, it showcases his humour as he jokes with his band and the emcee, his love of music as he talks unguardedly about his favourite songs, and captures him in his prime. These shows are the first truly three-dimensional portrait of one of the giants of American music. What emerges is a full, rounded portrait of Williams at his creative and commercial peak. Lovesick Blues is here, along with fine versions of I Cant Help It (If Im Still in Love with You), A Mansion on the Hill, and the Williams-composed gospel classic I Saw the Light.
