Description
Engineers, who currently comprise Liverpudlian multi-instrumentalist Mark Peters, celebrated German ambient artist/producer Ulrich Schnauss, and London based drummer and composer Matthew Linley, have been creating mesmerising music with brilliantly shaded guitar textures and teasing lyrical ambiguities since 2004.
The bands previous albums have garnered acclaim from all areas of the media 2005s debut Engineers (hypnotic lullabies from beautific Brit newcomers **** Q), 2009s Three Fact Fader (a blistering statement of intent **** The Sunday Times), and 2010s swift follow-up In Praise Of More (should be given to most UK bands as an example of in making an album that is a joy to behold 8/10 Clash); with BBC Musics Lauren Laverne stating Everything they do is brilliant.
With German electronic genius and re-knowned producer & re-mixer Schnauss, who has previously worked with the likes of Depeche Mode, Mojave 3, Death Cab For Cutie & the Pet Shop Boys to name a few, in addition to his solo output, joining Engineers as full time member on their 2010s In Praise Of More album, his influence is clearly apparent on the tracks such as Innsbruck and Smoke Mirrors. Here the producers treatments are light, adding a playful touch to the record, in keeping with the spirit of spontaneity Peters wanted to capture.
