Description
Pollinis Debussy Préludes Books I & II: Released for the first time on vinyl are Maurizio Pollinis complete recordings of Debussys Préludes. Recorded 18 years apart, 1999 and 2018, this is the first time both Books have been released together and are another important addition to the Debussy Centenary. The Pollini set will include original liner notes from both CD recordings in English and German, whereas the French and Italian versions will also be made available as PDF downloads. The Italian pianists full-bodied sound gives (the Préludes) a strong physical impact, miles away from the foggy sonorities that many pianists still use (and abuse) in Debussy. Here, lines are crisp and clear, contrasts dramatic, and rhythms turbulent. Classics Today on Pollinis Préludes I (1999) Pollinis awareness of colour and texture is as acute as ever, and, never a pianist to smother musical outlines with amorphous washes of colour, everything is crisp and sharply focused.
