Description
Grammy Award winning Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov has made a spectacular ascent of the classical music world as a solo artist, champion of the concerto repertoire, chamber and vocal collaborator, and composer. Combining consummate technique with rare sensitivity and depth, his performances are a perpetual source of awe. He has everything and moretenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that, marvels pianist Martha Argerich while The Times of London notes, that he is without question the most astounding pianist of our age. 2018 brings a new Deutsche Grammophon release, Destination Rachmaninov: Departure, on which the pianist performs the Russian composers Second and Fourth Concertos, again with the Philadelphia Orchestra (the same orchestra with which Rachmaninov recorded this set of concerti over 80 years ago) and Yannick Nézet-Séguin, his partners on 2015s Rachmaninov: Variations. Theyre joined here by Rachmaninovs solo piano transcriptions of three movements from Bachs Violin Partita in E Major.
Musicians:
Sergey Rachmaninov / Johann Sebastian Bach, composer
Yannick Nézet-Séguin, conductor
Daniil Trifonov, piano
The Philadelphia Orchestra
