Description
For The Ghosts Within is a new collaboration between Robert Wyatt, saxophonist / composer Gilad Atzmon and violinist / composer Ros Stephen.
A song cycle featuring jazz standards such as Lush Life, In A Sentimental Mood and Round Midnight, For The Ghosts Within places Wyatts voice (and whistling) amid the seductive drama of string quartet and Gilads beautiful saxophone playing.
The trio also take on Roberts own song the classic Maryan from his 1997 album Schleep, Chics At Last I Am Free and, a future Xmas number one, Louis Armstrongs What A Wonderful World.
After Robert was nominated for The Mercury Prize previously for Cuckooland perhaps this beautiful trio record will finally make it for next years award.
Gilad Atzmon is a respected artiste in his own right, he has various successful groups and is currently a main player in Ian Durys Blockheads.
The vinyl is a double with music split over 3 sides.
