Description
Sun kissed Americana/Roots Rock with a Psychedelic Groove.
CANYON RYDE are a collective of experienced players (all from an transatlantic Americana and Psychedelic Rock background, including GARY LOURIS with classic trademark guitar licks on Restless Blues and the title track Free to Be) built around lead singer-songwriter Phil Lively-Masters. The debut album Free to Be was labour of love recorded over 2 years, produced by experienced UK Americana artist Peter Bruntnell and has picked up superb reviews thus far.
Free to Be includes a huge range of styles, from the 8 minute psychedelic Beyond lies the open sea with blazing Hammond B3 outro, epic country rockers such as My love will hold you and Restless Blues to the compact sun-kissed indie rock of Shining warmth of the sun or the wave lapping bliss out of Marine Drive and Nick Drake styled Seven Summers. The album is a classic old school grower and is fuelled by Piano, Hammond, Clavinet, Rhodes, Drums, Bass, Percussion, classic 3 way Electric Guitar interplay, 6 and 12 String Acoustics, multiple harmonies, Dobro, slide guitar and Pedal Steel licks.
CANYON RYDE is the vehicle for North Devon-based singer-songwriter Phil Lively-Masters and his superb songs that are evocative of Americas West Coast countryish pop-rock of the late 1960s and early 1970s with acclaimed players such as singer songwriter Peter Bruntnell and Gary LourisIt is a gorgeous listening experience, especially on the captivating Marine Drive 4 STARS MAVERICK MAGAZINE
