Description
On Its a Shame About Ray (1992), songwriter Evan Dando and Juliana Hat?eld perfected their signature style of Punk- Pop-meets-Folk-Rock. The album is a beautiful collection of sunny melodies and hooks, delivered with typical nonchalance by Dando. A smorgasbord of immediately accessible and thoroughly catchy songs, his laid-back observations of middle-class outcasts are little gems in their own right.
Highlights are the heartbroken title track, Confetti, Bit Part In Your Life, the love letter to substances My Drug Buddy, or the wonderful Alisons Starting to Happen, where a girl ?nds herself as she discovers Punk Rock. His warm, friendly voice is offset by Juliana Hat?elds girlish harmonies, giving the songs an emotional resonance.
