Description
Over the course of their remarkable career, Barenaked Ladies have sold over 15 million albums, written multiple top 20 hits (including radio staples One Week, Pinch Me, If I Had,000), garnered two Grammy nominations, won eight JUNO Awards, had Ben & Jerrys name an ice cream after them, and participated in the first-ever space-to-earth musical collaboration with astronaut Chris Hadfield. In 2018, the band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and Toronto Mayor John Tory declared October 1st Barenaked Ladies Day.
1998s quadruple-platinum smash Stunt catapulted Barenaked Ladies from alternative favorite to major pop stardom. Colorful 2000 follow-up Maroon, produced by Don Was (Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, Randy Newmanm, B-52s), saw the wittiest, hook-happiest pop-rock band in all the land build on that momentum with another platinum effort propelled by definite hits like Pinch Me and Too Little Too Late. For the 20th anniversary of Maroon, Run Out Groove is finally issuing the album on vinyl for the first time as an 18-track Deluxe Edition 180g 2LP-set expanded with demos, rarities and b-sides.
Maroon was a total pleasure to make, and it felt like a real golden era for the band where we had full support of the record company and the band was on fire, selling out arenas all over America, states frontman Ed Robertson. That period was very much living the dream, and its a great group of songs. I have a lot of fondness for that entire process, so Maroon kind of gets a pass from me in the going-backwards category. I like to revisit that record but its full of good memories, good stories and good vibes.
