Description
Rob Zombie’s second solo album ‘The Sinister Urge’ was released three years after his debut album ‘Hellbilly Deluxe’.
The album title was borrowed from the 1961 Ed Wood film of the same name. Although only one single was released – ‘Demon Speeding’ – tracks from the album appeared on soundtracks for Mission: Impossible 2 and as promo releases.
Two official videos were created, including one for the track ‘Never Gonna Stop (The Red Red Kroovy)’, in which the band recreated A Clockwork Orange.
Zombie was able to secure several friends for the album, including Tommy Lee again on drums and Slayer’s Kerry King on guitar. The biggest gamble was securing Ozzy Osbourne’s vocals for the track Iron Head. At the time, Zombie said in an interview with , “I thought the song was kind of not special enough. Somehow I didn’t think the song was as good as it should be, and I had been talking to Ozzy a lot and working on stuff for the tour, and somebody was like, ‘Why don’t you just get Ozzy to do it?’ That’s when I thought, ‘Well, sure. Sometimes you don’t think of the obvious ideas.”
