Description
The Hybrid SACD edition of The Flying Burrito Bros.s Gilded Palace of Sin was mastered directly from analogue tape to DSD and will come housed in a super jewel box.
Intervention Records is thrilled to reissue The Flying Burrito Bros. classic 1969 debut, The Gilded Palace of Sin on Hybrid SACD. Headed by former Byrds Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman, The Flying Burrito Bros. are widely viewed as the inventors of country rock and one of the most influential bands of all time. The Gilded Palace of Sin (#192 on Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums of All Time) is not only FBBs finest work, its a true classic full of some of the greatest tunes ever written and sung by Parsons and Hillman.
Its all thrilling: the country-ish covers of soul classics such as Dark End of the Street, the distorted pedal-steel fills of Sneaky Pete Kleinow, and the classic country-rock compositions like the bluegrassy draft-dodgers anthem My Uncle and the amazingly twangy critique of capitalism, Sin City. Along with the Byrds Sweetheart of the Rodeo, this is the premier example of Parsons and Hillmans prescient hippie-from-Muskogee aesthetic.
