Description
‘Transplants’ is the self-titled debut studio album by American punk band Transplants. It was released on 22nd October 2002 via Hellcat Records.
Transplants are Tim Armstrong (Rancid), Travis Barker (Blink 182) and Rob Aston. Their sound is a highly original mix of stylistic influences that never strays too far from the home base of punk rock while managing to incorporate such disparate elements as blistering hardcore guitars, hip-hop and dance hall beats, rap rhymes and an overall un-wavering dedication to the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll.
The album peaked at No. 96 on the US Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Independent Albums chart. Its lead single, ‘Diamonds and Guns’, peaked at No. 19 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and No. 27 on the UK Singles Chart. The second single, ‘D.J. D.J.’ peaked at No. 49 on the UK Singles Chart. Both its singles are featured in Paul Hunter’s 2003 film ‘Bulletproof Monk’. The song ‘California Babylon’ is included in the 2003 video game Tony Hawk’s Underground.
