Description
Tragically Hips second album Up In Here was released in 1989 and showed the world what these Canadian Blues influenced Pop rockers were capable of. Driving rhythms, effective riffs, subtle soloing and especially the vocal stretches provided by singer Gordon Downie his tormented voice implied he had some funny demons to
exorcise. His distinctive stage appearance made the band what they are: good humoured, down-to-earth, groovy with a pinch of spirituality. The Hip established themselves as Canadas best musical export product in their subsequent career, 25 years and counting. Standout tracks on Up In Here include Boots Or Hearts, Blow At High Dough and 38 Years Old. Their following album Road Apples [MOVLP808] would prove a smash, too.
